Gilded bronze tiger-devouring-sheep-shaped pedestal

This gilded bronze tiger-devouring-sheep-shaped pedestal currently preserved in Gansu Provincial Museum. It measures 30 centimeters in height and 15cm-high at pedestal.

It is made in tiger-devouring-sheep posture of which the tiger’s eyes, nose, ears, mouth even the tooth are clearly carved. The four limbs and the tail rest on a rectangular base while the sheep tries to struggle from the mouth of the tiger. The overall form represents power and majesties.
The fighting scene of the animals are the typical ornament used by nomadic tribes in the Spring and Autumn period. This pedestal with refined design has a very high value of appreciation and research.
